The Baan Nokkamin Foundation believes in the importance of learning a second language at a young age. Working in partnership with local primary schools in the Hua Hin area, we are working towards this goal.
English teachers can contribute in a range of areas from conversational skills, grammar and vocabulary learning through teaching, singing and dancing and games. Just having contact with English will help the children grow in their linguistic confidence. English as a second language is of great importance in Thailand, because children and Thai employees without adequate language skills will have a significantly harder time finding good employment opportunities and further education than those with adequate English skills. Therefore we need the regular help of volunteers who want to make a difference by sharing their language and culture. We also want volunteers to encourage the children to be creative and to broaden their minds. Volunteers will also be helping the children to overcome their fears of interacting with foreigners, just by being around them.
Currently we have one ongoing project at the Baan Samorprong Muncipality School. The teacher teaches all the primary school students once a week in conversational English through games helping them to gain joy from language learning.
